Police Report: May3-9

The Mount Rainier Police Department’s weekly report is not intended to be a listing of every incident or call for service handled by the police department, but merely a general summary of incidents that may be of interest to the community. Some reports may be outside the date parameters due to extended investigations or other circumstances. Some cases are not included at all due to ongoing investigations.

 

May 9th:

 

3200 block of Queens Chapel Road Little Caesars): Hit and run collision – 7:35pm. The owner of a 2012 Dodge told officers that she returned to her vehicle and discovered minor damage to the left side of the vehicle.

 

4300 block of 28th Place: Stolen vehicle – 8:30pm. The owner of a 1999 Cadillac reported his vehicle stolen from where it had been legally parked in a handicapped space.

 

3000 block of Queens Chapel Road: Emergency petition – 9:50pm. Officers transported a woman to Washington Adventist Hospital for an emergency psychiatric examination. The woman had attempted to kill herself by cutting her wrists with a straight razor.

 

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: CDS possession – 10:30pm. Officers arrested a juvenile for possession of synthetic marijuana. He was released to the custody of his father pending juvenile Court action.

 

4000 block of 34th Street: Domestic assault – 11:20pm. Officers arrested a man for assaulting his girlfriend after an argument.

 

May 8th:

 

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: Unconscious person – 3:20pm. Officers assisted fire/rescue personnel with an unconscious man in a vehicle. The man was unresponsive and was taken by EMS to Providence Hospital for treatment. His vehicle was impounded for safekeeping.

 

4200 block of 32nd Street: Burglary – 5pm. The resident told officers that he came home and discovered that someone had broken into his home through a rear glass door and stole several of his personal items. Officers were able to obtain latent prints from the rear door area and PGPD detectives responded to assume a follow-up investigation.

 

3200 block of Perry Street: Recovered stolen auto – 7pm. Officers were notified by PGPD that a 1994 Honda stolen from Perry Street on April 29th was recovered this morning in the 8200 block of Gray Eagle Drive in Upper Marlboro. No arrests were made and the owner was notified of the recovery.

 

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: Trespassing – 10:10pm. Officers arrested a juvenile for trespassing. He had been previously banned from the property. He was released to the custody of his father pending Juvenile Court action.

 

May 7th:

 

4000 block of 35th Street: Warrant service – 7:10pm. Officers arrested a man on an open arrest warrant for violation of a protective order.

 

May 6th:

 

3200 block of Rhode Island Avenue: Lost property – 2pm. A man came into the police station to report that he lost his wallet.

   

28th Place and Upshur Street: Hit and run collision – 5:55pm. The reporting person told officers that his vehicle had been struck by a grey Lexus 4-door that failed to remain at the scene.

 

May 5th:

 

2800 block of Shepherd Street: Theft from auto – 5:50am. The owner of a 2013 Chrysler 300 reported that she came out to her vehicle this morning and discovered that all four wheels and tires had been stolen off her vehicle.

 

3400 block of Newton Street: Burglary – 9am. Officers apprehended an 18 year old man for burglarizing a private residence. Officers also recovered the victim’s property and a stolen Honda that the arrestee used to drive to the scene. The man’s accomplice was able to escape on foot into DC.

 

3800 block of 37th Street: Vehicle impound – 3:25pm. Officers impounded a 2000 Toyota Celica for having a suspended registration and a pick up order for the tags.

 

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: Criminal citation – 7:40pm. Officers issued a man a crim inal citation for an open alcohol violation.

 

4000 block of 31st Street: MIR – 9:30pm. Officers took a report of a suspicious person walking in the neighborhood. The suspect was not located.

 

May 4th:

 

3100 block of Queens Chapel Road: Missing children – 5:10pm. Officers were notified that three children from a larger group were missing from the Nature center playground. The officers located a parent of one of the children who said that they walked to her apartment where they were located safe and sound.

 

3200 block of Queens Chapel Road: Vehicle impound – 10pm. Officers impounded a 1991 Honda Accord that was abandoned in the roadway and blocking traffic.

 

4100 block of 31st Street: Protection order service – 12:30am. Officers served a court protection order on an adult male. The man complied with the order and left the residence without incident.

 

3100 block of Arundel Road: Vehicle impound – 3:20am. Officers impounded a 2001 Honda Accord that had an insurance violation and a pick up order for the tags.

 

May 3rd:

The following information  comes courtesy  of the  New Jersey Cybersecurity & Communications Integration Cell Public cell phone charging stations supplied with power cables or USB ports located in stores, airports, libraries, and schools may seem like a convenient way to charge your mobile devices on-the-go, but can you be sure that your device and data will be safe if you connect? These kiosks can contain concealed computers that attempt to extract data such as contact information, photos, and videos from connected devices, unbeknownst to the users. Additionally, malicious or compromised charging stations can expose devices to the risk of a malware infection. Even if the charging station isn’t malicious, the manufacturer or owner of the kiosk may require users to input their email addresses or phone numbers in order to charge their devices, potentially exposing them to unwanted marketing campaigns, spam emails, and scam calls. Police Report: May 8-11

Friday May 8th : 3400 block of 11 Newton Street : At about 2 pm officers responded for the report of a woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly punched the woman in the mouth and choked her. She told the officers that she did not want any police assistance and refused to tell the officers what had occurred. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner if she decided to press charges at a later time. Saturday May 9th : Nothing significant to report. Sunday May 10th : 4500 block of Eastern Avenue (BP station) : At about 11 am officers responded for the report of a stolen auto. The officers met with the victim/owner who told them that he left the keys to his 2002 Lincoln on the front seat when he went inside to pay for gas. When he came out of the store he saw his Lincoln being driven up Eastern Avenue towards Rhode Island Avenue by a black male (no further description). A check of the area for the stolen car proved negative and a lookout for it was gi
